Stone dust vs sand for laying pavers? Help!

The third uses washed concrete sand as the bedding base rather than stone dust. They all described similar excavation and prep compacting in 2 increments. All 3 of them use polymeric sand for the finish sweep. So I googled sand vs. stone dust and landed here. I still don't know for sure, but I think I am leaning towards the sand.

I was told by one of the contractor that I needed to put a layer of sand before I poured concrete for the driveway. Patio: crushed gravel bed base vs concrete base

CRUSHED concrete or granite is now the way to go. Sand is old school. The crushed base is porous and allows for good drainage but it's heavier and more stable than sand. I am researching my own options as laying my recycled pavers is a project looming on the horizon. Poured concrete, in the third comment, doesn't really apply to your question.
